Corridor

I am standing in a corridor of dreams,
Through the crevices of each door, bright light gleams,
I am aware that nothing is ever as it seems,
But akin to the glow I see, my face, too, beams.

As I walk my path ahead my fingers trace,
Each intricately crafted gate that I once chased,
Unaware of which most makes my heart race,
I wonder if my emotions display on my face.

Old dreams are now my memories,
They reside behind closed portals of omniscient libraries,
Holding the keys to my forgotten fantasies,
And to those which I now carry on as my stories.

Reminisce as I may but I must not halt,
For lingering will inevitably resurface my every fault,
Tearing old wounds open and seasoning with salt,
No! To my future ahead I must exalt!

I am standing in a corridor of dreams,
The light ahead of me brightly gleams,
I am aware that nothing is ever as it seems,
But akin to the glow I see, my face, too, beams.
